Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest continues annual community tradition this October
Mid Michigan College's Harrison Campus transforms its public trails into the Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest each October, offering a spooky experience organized by students from Phi Theta Kappa. Running on select evenings, the event promises thrills and fun for the community.
What’s Happening: Nearly 20 miles of public trails on Mid Michigan College’s Harrison Campus are available for hiking, biking, and organized athletic events throughout the year. However come October, the trails offer something very different—the Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest.
Who’s Organizing the Haunted Trails: The Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest is sponsored by the Mid Michigan College Foundation. The haunted trails are designed and staffed by Mid Michigan College students who are members of Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honors society for two-year college students. Proceeds fund service-learning projects and leadership development experiences for Mid’s Phi Theta Kappa students.
What They’re Saying: “Deadwood Grove is a spooky event orchestrated by more than 40 student volunteers who help to make the haunted trail a safe, fun night,” says Tammy Alvaro, director of student advancement at Mid and PTK advisor. “It’s great to see community members come out and enjoy something that we plan for several months in advance, and we hope this year is more fun than ever.”
“This is the thirteenth year of Deadwood Grove,” she shared. “We’re so excited to celebrate thirteen years of fears and fun with everyone!”
When It’s Happening: The Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest will be open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the last two Fridays and Saturdays in October—October 18, 19, 25, and 26.
How Much Are Tickets: Tickets cost $5 for those 12 and under, and $10 for adults. They are available online at midmich.edu/deadwood or at the Poet Family Outdoor Education Center trails.
