Chippewa Valley Audubon Club Historical Program

Wednesday September 9 at 7 p.m. in the Clarke Historical Library on campus of CMU

The Chippewa Valley Audubon Club will meet at the Clark Historical Museum at Central MIchigan University Library to review 75 years of their club history. Bryan Whitledge, curator at Clark’s Museum, will present the archives of club activities and programs including newspaper articles from CMU Life, and the early editions of the City of Mt Pleasant.

Women in Business: The Leadership Library

Thursday September 10 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Mid Michigan College’s Mt. Pleasant Campus

Women in Business will host The Leadership Library, a book-club-style event featuring How Women Rise by Sally Helgesen and Marshall Goldsmith. The event will take place Thursday, September 10 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Mid Michigan College, offering attendees an opportunity to connect and discuss leadership strategies. Registration starts at $15, with book options available through Sleepy Dog Books. Registration closes September 3.

Friends of Veterans Memorial Library Book Sale

Thursday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, September 11 from 10 a.m to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the VML Annex at Veterans Memorial Library in Mt. Pleasant

The Friends of Veterans Memorial Library organization is holding a book sale with special times reserved for friends only on Tuesday, September 4 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, September 10 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Additional access for teachers will be on Wednesday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Books vary in price from $2 to 50 cents, and Saturday shoppers can fill a bag for $2. All proceeds benefit Veterans Memorial Library. Book donations can be brought to Veterans Memorial Library between August 31 and September 4 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

53rd Annual Wheatland Music Festival

Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13 on the Wheatland Festival site in Remus

The Wheatland Music Organization will host the 53rd Annual Wheatland Music Festival September 11 through 13, at its 160-acre festival site in Remus. The three-day celebration will feature traditional music and arts from national, regional, and Michigan-based artists, along with workshops, dancing and instrumental instruction. The festival will also welcome returning favorites and new performers, with the full schedule available on their website.

Mountain Town Station’s Dirty 30 Birthday Party Beer Tent

Friday, September 11 at 6 p.m. at Mountain Town Station in Mt. Pleasant

Mountain Town Station is celebrating 30 years with an anniversary bash on Friday, September 11 starting at 6 p.m. The celebration will feature favorite dishes from the restaurant’s 30-year history, live music from Nameless, and an outdoor beer tent in the garden. Admission is $30, with food included and beer and cocktails available for purchase.

First Responder 5K

Saturday, September 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Island Park in downtown Mt. Pleasant

The 3rd Annual SERVPRO First Responder 5k is being held on Saturday, September 12, welcoming runners, walkers and supporters of all ages. The family-friendly event features a scenic 5K, emergency vehicles, family activities, coffee, donuts, and participant swag. Proceeds benefit the Isabella County First Responders Fund, supporting first responder agencies throughout the county.

Pathways to Possibilities Golf Scramble

Thursday, September 17 at 9 a.m. at Riverwood Resort in Mt. Pleasant

Join MMI for their first Pathways to Possibilities Golf Scramble. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m., featuring games, raffles, mulligans, and other opportunities to win prizes throughout the course. Teams will compete for the best score, with additional prizes available at select holes for contests such as Closest to the Pin, Hole-in-One, Longest Putt and Longest Drive. Golfers can enjoy lunch at the turn and a barbecue banquet after the round.

East Central Childcare Coalition Access Fair

Saturday, September 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mid Michigan College’s Mt. Pleasant Campus

The East Central Childcare Coalition is hosting an Access Fair for potential childcare providers which will be held Saturday, September 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mid Michigan College’s Mt. Pleasant campus. The event will bring together resources and information for those interested in opening a childcare center or family/group home. Attendees can also participate in professional development opportunities during the annual Heart to Shape a Mind early childhood conference, with scholarships available.

27th Annual Into the Light Cancer Walk

Friday, September 25 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Isabella County Fairgrounds

Community Cancer Services of Isabella County is hosting their 27th annual Into the Light Cancer Walk at the Isabella County Fairgrounds. Participants can walk in memory or honor of a loved one as the event is free and open to the public. Follow the event’s Facebook page for updates.

Zonta 37th Annual Applefest 

Saturday, September 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch in Mt. Pleasant

The Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant will host its 37th Annual Applefest on Saturday, September 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch. Families can enjoy children’s games, hayrides, crafters, apple pie, cider, donuts and other food vendors. The event will also feature a fall-themed story time with Miss Christie from the Chippewa River District Library.
