August is packed with opportunities to make the most of summer in Mt. Pleasant. From the excitement of the Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair and free outdoor concerts to local markets, community fundraisers, and family-friendly festivals, there’s no shortage of ways to get out and enjoy the season. 

Four Suns Farm Lavender Workshops and Kids Days

Workshops Saturdays and Wednesdays through August, Kids Days hosted on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Four Suns Farm Lavender‘s summer workshops combine hands-on activities with Lavender 101 education, giving guests the chance to learn about growing, harvesting, and using lavender. Participants will hear stories from the family farm while creating handmade projects to take home. Kids programs run weekly allowing children to explore nature through hands-on farm activities. Each session encourages curiosity, creativity, and a love for the outdoors while teaching kids about lavender and caring for the earth.

Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair

Monday, August 3 to Saturday, August 8 at the Isabella County Fairgrounds

The fair returns this August with a brand-new midway from T.J. Schmidt & Company, exciting grandstand events including two nights each of rodeo and demolition derby, and the return of the popular horse pulls. Visitors can also enjoy livestock exhibits showcasing local 2026 projects, along with classic fair food, rides, and family-friendly activities. Stay up to date with events for the week on Facebook. 

Native Farmers Market

Tuesdays through August from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion on Leaton/Broadway in Mt. Pleasant 

The Native Farmers Market continues through August on Tuesdays at the Farmers Market Pavilion on the corner of Leaton and Broadway. Shop local produce, baked goods, beaded/sculpted art, and enjoy Indigenous foods while you shop. Stay up to date on vendors for the week by following on Facebook.

Max & Emily’s Summer Concert Series

Thursday, August 6 and 13 and Saturday, August 29 at 6 p.m outside Max and Emily’s in Downtown Mt. Pleasant

Max & Emily’s Summer Concert Series returns this August with free outdoor performances featuring Augustana on Aug. 6, Arkansauce on Aug. 13, and Tonic on Saturday Aug. 29. Each evening begins with a local opening act at 6 p.m., followed by the headliner at 7 p.m., with food available from the outdoor grill and restaurant. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of live music in downtown Mt. Pleasant.

Relay for Life of Gratiot and Isabella Counties

Saturday, August 8 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Alma College Stone Recreation Center

95.3 CFX is hosting Relay for Life of Isabella and Gratiot counties also sponsored by the American Cancer Society. This fundraiser event will raise money for the American Cancer Society through events, games, talent shows, and much more. Participants can walk the track in support of cancer survivors throughout the day, while also participating in the events throughout the day. 

Beat the Heat Summer Events at Island Park

Wednesday, August 12 and Friday, August 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Island Park 

Beat the Heat continues through August at Island Park in Downtown Mt. Pleasant with the Back to School Bash and the Rubber Duck Derby. Join the fun with local organizations, giveaways, games, and more. Each event will have information released through Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation. 

Coneys for a Cause 

August 17 – 21 at Pixie in Mt. Pleasant 

Coneys for a Cause returns this August, giving the community a chance to enjoy $1.99 Pixie coney dogs while supporting the Mt. Pleasant Police Youth Services Unit. Pixie will donate 100% of the profits to youth programs in Isabella County. Customers can dine in or pre-order a minimum of one dozen coneys for delivery during the event. 9th Annual Market for the Arts

Friday, August 21 at 5 p.m. to Sunday, August 23 at 3 p.m. at For Arts Sake in Downtown Mt. Pleasant (117 S. Main St.)

The 9th Annual Market for the Arts returns to downtown Mt. Pleasant, bringing three blocks of handmade art, live music, local food, and interactive activities. Attendees can enjoy face painting, tie-dye workshops, belly dancing, henna art, a silent disco, comedy show, and more. The kids market will take place Saturday, August 22 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. 

Mt. Pleasant America 250 Celebration

Friday, August 21 at 8:45 p.m. and Saturday, August 22 from 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Mt. Pleasant

America’s 250-year anniversary celebration continues with a weekend full of family-friendly activities. Friday evening features a Movies by Moonlight screening of Hamilton, followed by Saturday events including a Family Fun Celebration, an extended Farmers Market, a Color Guard presentation, and a 5K, 2K, and 1-mile race at Island Park.
