Aimed at celebrating and recognizing young professionals under the age of 40, the Middle Michigan Development Corporation and Greater Gratiot Development Inc. announce the 2025 40 Under 40 Awardees.

The “Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 Awards” is an initiative aimed at celebrating and recognizing young professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated remarkable achievements and contributions to their communities in Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, and Osceola counties.
The Middle Michigan Development Corporation (MMDC) and Greater Gratiot Development Inc. accepted nominations for the 2025 “Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 Awards” class from Aug. 4 to Sept. 22, 2025.
Kati Mora, president and CEO of the Middle Michigan Development Corporation, expressed her enthusiasm about this year’s awards, stating, “The Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate the vibrant future of our region. Each honoree represents the best of our community—young professionals who are driving change, excelling in their fields, and dedicating themselves to the betterment of Mid Michigan. We look forward to recognizing this year’s diverse and deserving nominees.”
The recipients of the 2025 Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 awards were honored on Nov. 12, 2025 at the Mid Michigan Emerging Leaders Gala.
Clare County

Anita Yager, Programs Coordinator, City of Harrison
Since joining the City of Harrison as Programs Coordinator in March 2025, Anita Yager has quickly become a driving force for community growth and connection. She elevated the Harrison Street Fair with record participation and launched Jeep the Budd, now a highly anticipated event in Harrison. Anita has also built strong partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and businesses, leading initiatives that support families and strengthen the local economy. Her leadership at The Venue on Main has turned it into a vibrant hub for collaboration and small business development.

Cassandra Moore, Nurse Practitioner, MyMichigan Health
Cassandra is an active and dedicated volunteer in the community, supporting a wide range of initiatives that enrich the lives of families and youth. She is involved with the parent committees at her children’s schools, helping organize events such as school dances, book fairs, and fundraisers. Cassandra also volunteers at Thrive Church, contributing to numerous community activities and events. Additionally, she is engaged with the Clare County 4-H program, supporting her children and other youth through educational and agricultural initiatives. Cassandra’s commitment, energy, and service make her a valued contributor to the community.

Elisha Call, Director of Intervention Services, Northern Michigan Alliance for Children
As Director of Intervention Services at the Northern Michigan Alliance for Children (NMAC), Elisha Call leads with compassion, vision, and commitment. She has strengthened NMAC’s impact by guiding the organization through its successful National Children’s Alliance reaccreditation and helping launch the new Missaukee County site, expanding access to vital services across the region. Known for her calm presence and solution-driven mindset, Elisha brings out the best in those around her — even in the most challenging circumstances. Through her leadership, Elisha has not only elevated her organization but also profoundly improved the lives of countless children and families in northern Michigan.

Kristin Simon, Registrar, Mid Michigan College
As Registrar at Mid Michigan College, Kristin has shown exceptional leadership through her dedication to student success and innovation in higher education. She has led key institutional initiatives, strengthened partnerships across other institutions, and is active at the local, state, and national levels. Kristin also is participating in the ASCEND Leadership Development Program throughAmerican Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. Beyond her role at Mid, she volunteers as a scholarship reviewer for the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation and supports campus fundraisers. Known for her positivity, initiative, and problem-solving spirit, Kristin is a rising leader whose impact reaches far beyond her office.

Michael Leary, Owner, Michael Leary Agency Farm Bureau
Michael, of Michael Leary Agency Farm Bureau, is a community-minded business owner in Clare County. He and his team help families and businesses secure future and help to find peace of mind during challenging moments. Michael is also an active member of the Clare Kiwanis Club, helping raise scholarship funds for local graduates and supporting youth programs across the county. His commitment to service and leadership are exemplified through the meaningful impact in the lives of those around him.

Tonya Roe, Parks and Recreation Coordinator at the Village of Farwell
Tonya Roe passion and service-driven leadership shines in everything she does. As the Park and Recreation Coordinator, she plays a vital role in organizing community events, coordinating volunteers, and leading fundraising efforts that strengthen local pride and connection. Tonya’s leadership was especially evident through the Barb Roe Memorial Fund, which supports the beautification and upkeep of Farwell’s parks and public spaces. As a trustee and active community advocate, she works tirelessly to make Farwell a vibrant and welcoming place for all. Known for her integrity, compassion, and hands-on approach, Tonya leads with both heart and vision in all aspects.
Gladwin County

Bobby McKowen, Chief Estimator at FED corporation

Kaylynn Laidlaw, Director of Services at the Shelterhouse in Gladwin County
Kaylynn provides therapy for survivors of intimate partner violence while overseeing daily operations and staff. Known for her fearless leadership and tireless advocacy, she builds inclusive, empowering environments for clients, coworkers, and the broader community. Kaylynn organizes and participates in numerous outreach events, creates strategic partnerships with schools and community organizations, and leads initiatives that raise awareness and provide critical resources. Her dedication, hands-on approach, and ability to inspire others have made a measurable impact across Gladwin County.

Lacey Anderson, Administrative Assistant to the Provost at Mid Michigan College
Lacey is a highly respected leader at Mid Michigan College, known for her initiative, intelligence, and dedication. She led key campus-wide projects, including the implementation of a standardized syllabus template and course assessment software, turning areas previously cited as weaknesses into strengths during accreditation. Beyond her professional role, Lacey coordinates the annual Ty Anderson Memorial Fishing Derby, raising funds for Pratt Lake and engaging the community. Dependable, proactive, and visionary, Lacey consistently goes above and beyond to support both the college and the community, making her an indispensable leader and mentor.

Brittney Fries, Owner of Little Lemon
Brittney has been a community leader from a young age, actively involved in athletics, 4-H, FFA, and numerous leadership roles. She and her husband are the proud owners of Little Lemon, a growing specialty lemonade business known for its community spirit. Beyond entrepreneurship, Brittney gives back through volunteering with the school PTO and leading the Gratiot Toys for Tots program. Her dedication and impact were recently recognized when she was named the 2025 Gratiot Chamber Young Professional of the Year.

Chelsea Sherlock, Marketing Specialist
Chelsea, a proud hometown returnee, works remotely for a major marketing company and freelances for the Gratiot County Herald. She has played a key role in planning Sumner Daze and Gratiot Young Professionals Network events, consistently going above and beyond as a volunteer. Chelsea brings her marketing expertise to support local businesses, non-profits, and community events, helping strengthen and promote the region she loves.

Doctor David Kramp, Emergency Medicine Physician at MyMichigan Health
Dr. David Kramp is an Emergency Medicine physician with MyMichigan Health, serving primarily at the Alma and Mt. Pleasant locations. An Alma College (BS) and Central Michigan University (MD) graduate, he leads with confidence, optimism, and a focus on affirming his team – even in the most challenging ER environments. Beyond patient care, Dr. Kramp is a lecturer at Central Michigan University, volunteers with the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians, and supports Tactical Emergency Medical Services for law enforcement. Dr. Kramp consistently inspires colleagues, engages deeply with patients, and fosters a positive, resilient culture in the high-pressure world of emergency medicine.

Emma Rohde, Chief Deputy Treasurer for Gratiot County
As Chief Deputy Treasurer, Emma exemplifies dedication, integrity, and community-focused leadership. She continually pursues professional growth to enhance services for Gratiot County residents and ensures transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in all financial processes. Hailey Gilbert, Manager at Michigan Agricultural Council
Hailey is a tireless advocate for agriculture and community engagement. After six months as interim leader, she officially assumed the role in November, following her success overseeing projects such as the Specialty Crop Block Grant program and the Council’s Down on MI Farm events. As manager of the Michigan Ag Council, she plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the ag industry and the general public. Beyond her professional work, Hailey is a skilled photographer, marketer, and volunteer whose communication expertise and strong work ethic have earned her the trust of both the agricultural community and the broader region she serves.

Jonathan Rayburn, Gratiot County Parks and Recreation Director
Jon serves as the Gratiot County Parks and Recreation Director, where his leadership, communication skills, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the community. Known for rolling up his sleeves alongside his staff, Jon ensures the parks are well-maintained, welcoming, and accessible to all residents. Nathan Horsley, Project Engineer at Powell

Blake Cahill, Environmental Quality Analyst, EGLE
Blake has devoted his career to protecting Michigan’s natural resources and believes a thriving community begins with a strong connection to nature. With a Master of Science in Conservation Biology from Central Michigan University, he has spent over a decade working in environmental conservation, including roles with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Midland County. Currently, Blake serves as an Environmental Quality Analyst with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), focusing on invasive species management. Beyond his professional work, he volunteers with and serves on the board of the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship.

Cassandra Chippeway, Content and Communication Coordinator, Mount Pleasant Area Convention and Visitors Bureau

Patricia Young, Director of Undergraduate Recruitment, Central Michigan University
As the leader of freshmen recruitment at Central Michigan University, Patty plays a pivotal role in strengthening both the university and the greater Mount Pleasant community. Under her leadership, CMU achieved consecutive growth in incoming freshmen from 2022 to 2024, culminating in the university’s first overall enrollment increase in a decade. This milestone has had a positive ripple effect on the local economy, supporting businesses and community vitality. In addition to her work at CMU, Patty serves on the Community Relations Committee – a 28-member organization dedicated to fostering collaboration between CMU, local businesses, nonprofits, and public entities. Patty is playing both the role of leader and collaborator to move our community forward!

Rob VanDorin, Executive Director of Business and Community Outreach, Central Michigan University
Rob is a passionate community leader in many roles, serving on the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce where he is stepping into the role of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and serving as Vice Chair of the Downtown Development Authority for the City of Mount Pleasant. He also has several years of experience serving on community youth sports boards, reinforcing his commitment to supporting local families and young talent. In addition, Rob contributes to multiple committees at Central Michigan University. Through his work on CMU’s Community Relations Committee and as a convener for the university’s strategic initiatives, he continues to build strong connections between the university and the greater Mt. Pleasant community. Not only does Rob’s leadership reach Isabella County but Gratiot County as well. Currently pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership, he continues to strengthen his impact in community engagement and development. Known for fostering collaboration and creating meaningful partnerships, Rob exemplifies mission-driven leadership.

Robert Zinger, Assistant Director of Orientation and Academic Support, Central Michigan University
As the Assistant Director of Orientation at CMU, Rob welcomes over 4,000 guests to our community each year! He grew up in mid-Michigan and it wasn’t until he left that he became fully committed to calling it home. He moved to CMU in 2016 for graduate school and worked in the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center with many of our local nonprofits which is where he saw firsthand how folks in Isabella County take care of one another. Since then, he has sought out ways to give back to the community himself by serving on the Advisory Board for the Michigan Academic Advising Association, volunteering on the Fundraising Committee for Isabella County Restoration House, and making sure local businesses are able to greet over 2,000 guests who attend Family & Friends Weekend in his oversight of CMU’s Parent & Family Services program.

Shreya Wachob, Pediatrician, MyMichigan Medical Center, Mount Pleasant
Dr. Wachob is an exceptional pediatrician and a dedicated community advocate in Mount Pleasant. She actively engages with local initiatives, including United Way’s March Reading Month, Pitch-Er This, health fairs, and Boo Bash, and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Her relationships with patients inspire and encourage young people, sometimes motivating them to pursue careers in healthcare. Recently named Dyad Lead for primary care physicians at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant, Dr. Wachob bridges relationships between physicians and administrative teams to ensure excellent patient outcomes, while also coordinating wellbeing events for her team. Through her leadership and community involvement, Dr. Wachob consistently contributes to the health and vitality of her community.
Osceola County

Brian Mund, Mold Build Supervisor, Reed City Group
Brian, a leader at Reed City Group, exemplifies integrity, fairness, and hard work in everything he does. Starting as a Mold Maker Apprentice in 2012, he has grown into the role of Mold Build Supervisor through dedication and perseverance. Brian is known for his hands-on leadership style and his genuine care for his team, often organizing volunteer “work bees” to help employees and community members with personal tasks like cutting wood for the winter. His commitment to others extends beyond the workplace, reflecting his strong sense of community and compassion.

Brittani McCrimmon, Clean Room Supervisor, Reed City Group
A leader at Reed City Group, Brittani McCrimmon is a respected supervisor in the organization’s medical facility. With the organization since 2012, she has grown within the company through hard work, determination, and a commitment to excellence. Brittani leads by example — coaching, mentoring, and encouraging her team to reach their full potential. Outside of work, she continues to inspire others by coaching basketball and helping young people pursue their goals. Charles Lupo, Child Support Enforcement Officer, Osceola County
Charles is a passionate and community-focused leader who played a key role in organizing Reed City’s Sesquicentennial Celebration. As Chairman, he led years of planning, coordination, and teamwork to create an unforgettable 150th Anniversary event for the community. In addition to his event leadership, Charles proudly serves on the Reed City Council, where he helped bring the Downtown Splash Pad project to life for the city’s youngest residents. His dedication, hands-on involvement, and enthusiasm for civic engagement reflect his deep commitment to Reed City’s growth and spirit.

Claudia Shewan, Registered Nurse, Corewell Health
Claudia embodies perseverance and dedication in everything she is involved in. She has maintained a deep commitment to her community through volunteer work and co-running a foster cat rescue that has rehomed over 60 animals. While in college, Claudia co-founded the CMU Nursing Society to guide and support fellow nursing students — a program that still makes an impact today. Now a registered nurse at Corewell Health on the Medical Surgery floor, she brings empathy, skill, and leadership to every patient interaction. Claudia continues to be an example of leadership with her peers, supervisors, friends, and family.

Jared Fleming, Senior Scrum Master, IT Department, Meijer
Jared’s leadership and perseverance in Reed City have lead to success on a national level. A 2008 Reed City High School graduate, he was an award-winning athlete and active volunteer, even helping rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina through his youth group. After earning his degree in Business Administration, Jared has built a strong career in IT—restructuring major systems for Fusion Academy, supporting Spectrum Health during the pandemic, and now advancing within Meijer. Recently returning home to Reed City, Jared is passionate about giving back to the community that shaped him.
