Mt. Pleasant in October: Local events to enjoy this fall
October in Mt. Pleasant and Isabella County is abundant with fall excitement, with something for everyone. From local craft shows to farmers’ markets and athletic events, the autumn season brings a range of activities that scream community and fall fun. Get out your calendar!

Fall in Mt. Pleasant brings a culmination of vibrancy, and just as the trees have begun to show their color, October’s events bring fun and exciting things to town. There’s something for everyone this month in Mt. Pleasant and the surrounding areas.
Farmers’ Market
The outdoor Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market will run for their final month through October 30. You can find the Thursday market at Island Park from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Saturday market at the Town Center on Main and Broadway downtown from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m (final market is October 11). The market offers fresh produce, plants, live music, food trucks, and much more from a variety of local vendors.

Look Who’s Talking
Friday, Oct. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Comfort Inn Conference Center in Mt. Pleasant
Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation’s Women’s Initiative is hosting Central Michigan University’s Vernique N. Jackson. Jackson is the associate director of the Leadership Institute at CMU, as well as an educator, leader, and mentor in the community. Join her for her Keynote “Lead In Your Lane: Owning Your Style: Uplifting Your Community” as she discusses how leadership is defined by one’s personal style and how to use that to create meaningful change. Tickets are $50 for the event and can be purchased here.

Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest
Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Mid Michigan College Harrison Campus
Deadwood is back again, hosted by Mid Michigan College students and volunteers. Sponsored by the Mid Michigan College Foundation, all proceeds benefit service learning projects to be completed by MMC’s Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honors society for two-year college students. Visit Mid Michigan College’s website on the event for more information. Tickets are $10 per person and $5 for kids 12 and under.

Autumn Food Truck & Shop
Saturday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mid Michigan Insurance Agency in Mt. Pleasant
At the Autumn Food Truck & Shop event at Mid Michigan Insurance Agency, you’ll find local vendors specializing in candles, knit and crochet items, holiday art/decor, baked goods, jewelry, woodwork and much more. The little ones can enjoy the kids’ free craft tent while listening to live music from Gabe Couch. After you shop, enjoy some bites from Bubba-Q Mobile Food Cart and some lemonade from Little Lemon Specialty Lemonade.

SERVPRO First Responder 5K
Saturday, Oct. 4 at 9:30 a.m. at Island Park’s West Pavillion in Mt. Pleasant
SERVPRO of Mt. Pleasant, Clare and Houghton Lake are hosting their 2nd Annual First Responder 5K in Mt. Pleasant. All proceeds benefit the Isabella County First Responders Fund, helping them attend training on various topics such as fire safety, hazardous material handling, and more. Kids are invited to explore a firetruck with Mt. Pleasant Fire Department on site and enjoy lots of hands-on activities with the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum. Come celebrate the people who keep our community safe.

Grapes & Grains Fundraiser
Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant’s Bucks Run Golf Club
The Grapes & Grains fundraiser is an evening of wine and beer tasting, hors d’oeuvres, live music and prizes, hosted by the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Education Foundation. Funds raised at the event will benefit Mt. Pleasant K-12 classrooms, allowing teachers to fund educational projects that empower their students. Laugh Your HATS Off
Friday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Pohlcat Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant
The Humane Animal Treatment Society is hosting its 3rd annual Laugh Your HATS Off fundraiser. Join and enjoy a stand-up comedy show, eats from local restaurants, and a cash bar. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets for $50 per person here.

McCann Family Farm Market
Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 239 S. Crawford Road in Mt. Pleasant
Small town fall fun is around the corner at the McCann Family Farm Market. Admission is $5 per person, and the first 100 guests receive free gift bags full with items from the local vendors throughout the event. You can expect to see a range of vendors with specialities from permanent jewelry to pet toys, to health and wellness products.

Fall Mushrooms at Bundy Hill Preserve
Friday, Oct. 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bundy Hill Preserve
Join Sister Marie Kopin of the North American Mycological Association for a Friday morning mushroom hunt at the Bundy Hill Preserve in Mt. Pleasant (part of the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy). This hunt will conclude the fall forays for the season. This event is free and open to the public, and will end with identification of each participant’s findings. Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum Fall Fest Fundraiser
Friday, Oct. 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum
Celebrate the fall season at Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum by attending their Fall Fest Fundraiser. You can expect to find family fun activities set for the season, fall treats, and lots of ways for children to play creatively. In addition, every dollar raised for the museum in the Month of October will be matched up to $15,000 by United Way of Greater Central Michigan.

2025 CMU Homecoming
Thursday, Oct. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 26
Homecoming at Central Michigan University brings plenty of activities across campus and Mt. Pleasant. From alumni events, to the parade, and football kickoff of CMU vs. Massachusetts, the weekend is packed with family friendly activities.
