Ringing in the New Year with January Events in Mt. Pleasant
Winter doesn’t slow our community down. January brings creative nights out, family-friendly events, local shopping, live music, and community conversations across Mt. Pleasant and the region. Here’s your guide to what’s coming up.
January in Mt. Pleasant and the surrounding areas bring in an abundance of events, experiences, and activities for the whole family. Highlights include CMU Men’s Basketball, Mom Prom, and a true crime presentation.

Brews & Brushes
Thursday, January 8 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Art Reach of Mid Michigan
Art Reach of Mid Michigan is hosting Brews and Brushes, an event aimed for guests to unwind and enjoy a night out. The class is led by Brenda O’Brien who will provide step-by-step instructions to help each participant create the design. Bring a beverage, friend and your imagination. Chippewa Watershed Conservancy Nature Journal Club
Friday, January 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Library
Join the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy for an indoor journaling session at Veteran’s Memorial Library. There will be various specimens to study. Participants are welcome to bring their own medium or watercolor supplies will be available. Hot tea and light snacks are provided. You can learn more on the conservancy’s Facebook page.

Teddy Bear Clinic
Monday, January 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum
Join Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum (MPDM) and medical students from Central Michigan University for a teddy bear clinic. Children can bring a stuffed animal in for a hands-on “doctor’s visit” with the medical students. This event is meant to help children feel more comfortable for their own doctors visits. Cocoa, Cookies and Crime
Tuesday, January 13 from 7 – 8 p.m. at Mid Michigan College Mt. Pleasant Campus
True-crime acclaimed author and historian Tobin T. Buhk is visiting Mid Michigan College to share Michigan mysteries including unsolved murders, evidence, all while enjoying cookies and cocoa. The event is inspired by his book Cold Case Michigan, attendees can expect to learn about some of the states most haunting unsolved cold cases. Registration is required and tickets cost $5 per person.

Mom 2 Mom Sale
Saturday, January 17 from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Eight 2 Eight Rental Hall (221 W. Wright Ave, Shepherd)
Join Eight 2 Eight Rental Hall for one of the largest Mom to Mom sales in the area. You will find deals on baby, toddler, kid, and maternity items that span from toys to clothing, and more. Early bird shopping costs $5 and shopping is from 6:30 to 8 a.m., while regular admission is $3 and runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find more information on the event here.

Ladies Night Out
Wednesday, January 21 at 6 p.m. at The Eight 2 Eight Rental Hall (221 W. Wright Ave, Shepherd).

Mom Prom 2026
Friday, January 23 from 6 – 11 p.m. at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort
Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort is hosting Mom Prom, a fun-filled women only event. You will find dancing, door prizes, raffles, and more. Live music from Jedi Mind Trip is featured during the event. Admission options are as follows; Reserved Table (eight tickets near the dance floor for one table costs $600) or General Admission (one ticket for first-come first serve seating at the general admission tables cost $50). Daybreak Mt. Pleasant: Recruiting and Retaining Talent
Thursday, January 29 from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at Holiday Inn and Suites
This event features a plan of insightful leaders from the communities top workforce development agencies. The panelists will speak on strategies, best practices and real-world experiences on recruitment and talent retention in Mt. Pleasant. Follow the event’s Facebook page for the reveal of panelists. Member pricing is $15, while non-member pricing is $20.

2026 CMU Men’s Basketball Toilet Paper Toss
Saturday, January 31 at 7 p.m. at McGuirk Arena
Join Central Michigan University for the fourth annual Toilet Paper Toss at the Men’s Basketball game against Bowling Green. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at Ticket Central.
