Seven Isabella County nonprofits have been selected to participate in the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational 2022, each of which is guaranteed to receive at least a $4,500 grant.

The father-son duo of Jose and Justin del Castillo, who both attended Shepherd High School, are once again sharing their food with attendees at the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival this year.
Arnie and Merrie Hammel are two of the many volunteers who help run the Shepherd Sugar Bush Corporation. The couple has been involved with the festival in various capacities for over 30 years; and, they aren’t slowing down as they help prepare for this year’s festival, which will take place from Thursday, April 21-24.
When a difficult year in 1986 resulted in a homemade Christmas, Mary Moeggenborg had no idea that the very first steps of her journey on a new adventure had begun. It would be another 20 years before she would be a vendor at the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival, but her journey had begun.
