CMU School of Music Events

Ongoing throughout February at Staples Family Concert Hall

Join the Central Michigan University (CMU) School of Music for one of their February performances, featuring trombonists and trumpeters to percussion and symphonic wind ensembles. Under the Big Top

Friday, Feb. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Morey Courts Recreation Center

Under the Big Top is a free, carnival-style community event at Morey Courts Recreation Center featuring midway games, family-friendly activities, and entertainment for all ages. Hosted by Mt. Pleasant Parks & Recreation in collaboration with local partners, the event brings people together for fun, laughs, and community connection.

Sweetheart Market

Friday, Feb. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 7 from 12 – 4 p.m. at For Art’s Sake

The Sweetheart Market hosted by For Art’s Sake brings local artists and vendors together in downtown Mt. Pleasant, offering a variety of handmade goods, crafts, and gift items just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Galentine’s Day 4 Course Brunch

Saturday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at Camille’s Prime

Camille’s Prime is hosting their third annual Galentine’s Day Brunch. The brunch is $30 per person and provides four courses. There is also a specialty cocktail menu available. To book, you can message the Facebook page with your name, number of guests and a phone number, or call 989-775-2337. 

Course 1 – Avocado Toast: Toasted Sourdough topped with an avocado puree and bacon jam, with confetti eggs and micro-arugula
Course 2 – Chicken & Waffle Bites: Chicken breast hand-breaded and dipped in pancake batter, then fried to golden brown, with maple syrup to dip
Course 3 – Bacon & Gruyere Egg Bites: Applewood-smoked bacon and aged Gruyère Monterey Jack cheeses folded into cage-free eggs and cooked using the French sous vide technique.
Course 4 – Cinnamon Roll: A deliciously house-crafted roll made with our sweet dough, stuffed with cinnamon-sugar filling and topped with decadent icing.

Mawby Wine Tasting Event 

Saturday, Feb. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pleasant City Coffee

Join Pleasant City Coffee for a wine tasting event with MAWBY Sparkling Wines. MAWBY is based in the Traverse City area, specializing in traditional and unexpected sparkling wines with grapes grown in northern Michigan. Tickets include appetizers and four tastings. You can purchase tickets here.

18th Annual Dinner Raffle

Saturday, Feb. 7 from 5 to 11:30 p.m. at Comfort Inn & Suites Conference Center

Mt. Pleasant Optimist Club is hosting their annual Dinner Raffle. With dinner you can expect live music from Jedi Mind-Trip, late night snacks, raffle prizes, cash prizes and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds go toward the youth of Isabella County. Learn more here

Chippewa Valley Audubon Club “Mammals in Winter” Event

Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Library in Mt. Pleasant

Lindsey Harrell from the Chippewa Nature Center of Midland will discuss mammals in winter and their seasonal adaptations, using trail camera photography for some of the mammals. The event will be held in the library’s annex room.

CMU Department of Theatre and Dance Presents Witch 

Wednesday, Feb. 11 through 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at CMU Bush Theatre 

Join the CMU College of Arts and Media University Theatre for a showing of Witch by Jen Silverman. This is described as an inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama, debating how much souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. You can purchase tickets online or in-person at Ticket Central.

Polar Plunge

Saturday, Feb. 21 at 12 p.m. at O’Kelly’s Sports Bar and Grille

O’Kelly’s Sports Bar & Grille is hosting the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Michigan. At 11 a.m. the plunge check-in opens and the pre-plunge party begins. There is also an after party following the 12 p.m. plunge. Lunch is provided for plungers who raise over $100; plungers who raise over $200 will also receive two drink tickets. Love You to the Moon & Back Dances

Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 and 6 p.m. at Comfort Inn & Suites Conference Center

Join Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum as they host special Daddy Daughter and Mother Son dances. Guests can expect an unforgettable evening filled with music, dancing, refreshments and prizes. The Daddy Daughter Dance is from 2 to 4 p.m, with the Mother Son Dance following from 6 to 8 p.m. You can register online here by February 11. Cost for Isabella County residents is $32 per parent-child couple, $10 per additional child, and $45 for non Isabella County residents, $15 per additional child.

11th Annual PITCH-ER THIS! Youth Venture Competition

Saturday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at CMU College of Medicine

Join the United Way of Greater Central Michigan for the 11th annual PITCH-ER THIS! Youth Venture Competition. Students in mid Michigan are invited to “pitch” their ideas for a chance to receive funding from United Way. Panelists and attendees are invited to vote. The event is free and open to the public.
